Richard Miron
Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor
Richard assistant-edited Academy Award-nominated LIFE, ANIMATED, as well as ART AND CRAFT (Tribeca 2014, Academy Award shortlist). He was the lead editor for the recent feature documentary THE SURROUNDING GAME. He received his B.A. in Art from Yale University, where he won the Howard Lamar Prize, Yale’s top film award. Richard was the Director of Programming for the Environmental Film Festival at Yale for two years, and has a background in animal rights. He received the Marcie Bloom Fellowship in Film, and was a fellow in the 2016 IFP Documentary Labs.
Cindy Meehl
Executive Producer
Cindy Meehl is an award-winning director and executive producer known for her feature film documentary work. She founded Cedar Creek Productions in 2008 and directed BUCK, her debut film about renowned horse whisperer Buck Brannaman. Premiering at Sundance in 2011, BUCK won the U.S. Documentary Audience Award and was shortlisted for an Academy Award.
Meehl also directed THE DOG DOC (2019), about Dr. Marty Goldstein, a veterinarian known for his unconventional healing practices, that premiered at Tribeca and was released in 2020. Her latest directorial venture JIMMY & THE DEMONS, follows celebrated artist James Grashow’s marvelous adventure of creating his magnum opus. The film premiered at Tribeca in 2025 and won several jury awards in festivals around the country.
Cindy has been an executive producer on a range of critically acclaimed films including NATCHEZ (dir. Herbert 2025), FASHION REIMAGINED (dir. Hutner, 2022), REWIND (dir. Neulinger, 2019), THE RIVER AND THE WALL (dir. Masters, 2019), FOR THE BIRDS (dir. Miron, 2018), TRAPPED (dir. Porter, 2016), UNBRANDED (dir. Baribeau, 2015), and DOGS ON THE INSIDE (dir. Cunningham and Seirup, 2014).
Meehl’s other directorial work includes the Telly Award-winning series “7 Clinics with Buck Brannaman” and a music video for Templeton Thompson’s “When I Get That Pony Rode.”
Brian Reed
Executive Producer
Brian Reed is the host and co-creator of the groundbreaking podcast S-TOWN, which is a production of SERIAL and the public radio show THIS AMERICAN LIFE. S-TOWN was downloaded 40 million times in its first month, setting a new record in podcasting. As senior producer of THIS AMERICAN LIFE, Reed oversees the editorial direction of the program with host and executive producer Ira Glass. Reed has received the Dart Award for Reporting on Trauma, the Overseas Press Club Award, and two Peabody Awards.
Jeffrey Star
Producer, Editor
Jeffrey has been working with Richard on FOR THE BIRDS since the early shoots in 2011. Along the way, he has worked on other feature documentaries: as Assistant Director and Archival Producer for PUMP (directed by Sundance Audience Award-winner Josh Tickell), Associate Producer for VOYAGERS WITHOUT TRACE (Audience Award, Ashland Independent Film Festival), and Associate Producer for BOONE (SXSW, 2016). He earned his B.A. in Literature from Yale, and is a 2017 Impact Partners Documentary Producing Fellow. Elsewhere in the film industry, he has also worked as a Production Assistant on BROTHER NATURE (produced by Lorne Michaels) and NBC’s GRIMM, and taught video production to middle school and high school students in Portland, OR and New Haven, CT.
Holly Meehl

Holly began her film career in publicity at Sony Pictures Classics in 2011 and then transitioned to film development to work for feature director Tanya Wexler (HYSTERIA). In 2014, Holly began working at Salty Features under director/producer Yael Melamede and is a Co-Producer on Melamede's documentary feature (DIS)HONESTY: THE TRUTH ABOUT LIES. Holly ran a successful $137,000.00 Kickstarter campaign for the film, which then premiered at the Hot Docs and Full Frame Film Festivals in 2015. In 2015, Holly also launched her own production company, Lunamax Films, and is currently producing a feature documentary, JACINTA, which is executive produced by Impact Partners and participated in the Hot Docs Forum, Points North Forum, and TFI/A&E Indie Films Story Labs in 2017. Holly also produced a fiction feature, IN REALITY, which is launching its film festival tour in fall 2018 with the Los Angeles Film Festival.
Andrew Johnson
Composer
Andrew Johnson graduated magna cum laude from Yale in 2006 with a B.A. in music composition. After a stint as a Yale admissions officer, he moved to Los Angeles where he began writing additional music for television at Oscar winner Hans Zimmer's studio. His music has been heard on over one thousand episodes of television, including GLEE, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, MAJOR CRIMES, THE BLACKLIST, IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, KEY & PEELE, AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, and countless others. FOR THE BIRDS marks his tenth feature film as a composer.
Mark Becker
Supervising Editor
Mark most recently co-directed and edited ART AND CRAFT (Academy Award Shortlist, 2015). He produced, directed, and edited the Independent Spirit-nominated documentary ROMANTICO (Sundance, 2005) and directed and edited the Emmy-nominated PRESSURE COOKER. He has edited several other documentaries including LOST BOYS OF SUDAN and CIRCO.
